My Shirt

Don't you love my shirt?  I wear it at least once a year!  I received it six years ago from a student and I love it!!!

Advice and Thoughts

His advice to me when we began bowling..."You should go to Starbucks after school.  You've earned it."  Maybe I will...thanks for the okay.

I bowled a 123.  A decent score...but this student said to me, "Um, I thought you were good...I changed my mind."  So I bowled a 151 and then he said, "I changed it again."  Thanks for the confidence!

We like to dance!!!

Watch our playlist to see what happens when the latest dance craze comes on...guess our action breaks paid off this year!  It's the latest video at the end.

Say Cheese!

At our school, we celebrate positive behavior at the end of the year with a bowling trip.  I snagged a few photos of the students from my class who earned the trip.

They were trying to catch the light that was disco-ing around...it reminded me of cats.

Well...

It's almost the end of the year...

What a year it's been.

I have truly enjoyed this class and can't wait to share our end of the year presentation with my parents...I've been working on it now for over a week.

Oh, they're funny!

I love my job!  And I love the comments that kids make!

Today was no exception!

We were reading a book that mentioned that the class had found an old US flag that only had 48 states.

The kids questioned the number.

I asked them if they knew the last two states that became part of the US.

"Uh, Mexico?"

No...Mexico is not part of our country.

Insert confused look from student.

"Mexico is part of our continent."

Another student pipes in with, "Russia?"

Oh, nelly...

And then after lunch recess, one of my girls was really warm.  She had a sweatshirt on over her dress and said she couldn't take it off because she had noodles.

Knowing what she meant, but wanting to make sure, I asked her to explain that...

She said, "I have noodle straps on my dress."

Uh, yeah, those are called spaghetti straps.  I giggled inside.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Lost

I love what these photos show...

And while you may not know their backgrounds, several of these students have struggled with reading and look at them now...reading with others, trying new and harder books, being proactive learning new meanings of words, and reading (did I say that?)

The text was upside down...I promise!

They had been reading by the bookshelves and continued the book at the fountain...

Still reading...

Still reading...

And we're back to our spots...and still in our books.  That's what I call devoted!
He was coaching and encouraging him as he read...so cool!

Learning new words!
