Today we tried book clubs for the first time. While conferring with Sara, I asked her opinion about book clubs. She said she liked it "because she got to share her thinking and not keep it a secret."
Then, during writing workshop, I conferred with her about her small moment book. (I don't normally see the same child in the same day for both conferences, but today was her lucky day.) After realizing she was packing many stories into her writing, I explained how Cynthia Rylant breaks apart stories about Henry and Mudge in her books by table of contents. I leave and then turn around and see her looking through books. Why? She wanted to find out how other authors use the table of contents in their books. Smart thinking!!!

Leaves
After collecting leaves, we compared two. We also labeled what we knew about the leaves. Here are some of our thoughts!
